Big, Bold, and Camphoraceous with Minty Undertones exactly like the taste of Paan flavoured Kulfi! 

 

Jaya Cardamom is an indigenous variety that caught the attention of scientists at the Indian Cardamom Research Institute (ICRI) in Idukki, Kerala, for its long panicles and natural resistance to pest attacks. After initial observations, the scientists distributed saplings to selected farmers for field trials, testing its growth under both organic and conventional farming methods.

 

One of the chosen fields was ours, where Jaya Cardamom delivered stunning results, thriving naturally without synthetic pesticides. In a season marked by scant rainfall and high temperatures, when most other varieties struggled, this variety dominated with its high yield, larger pods, and complete resistance to pests. Following this remarkable success, the scientists officially launched it. Since it was the tenth variety they introduced, they recorded it as ICRI 10, but we call it Jaya Cardamom, and there’s a reason for that.

 

This variety flourished in Palar, a region historically home to a 300-acre cardamom estate known as Palar Estate. In the 1960s and ’70s, the estate’s owner had his own renowned Jaya Cardamom brand. To honor his contributions to the region and his vision for sustainable cardamom cultivation, we proudly named this variety Jaya Cardamom.
